After being postponed in early April, the 2020 Ironman Triathlon North American Championship that was to be held in The Woodlands has been canceled.
The race draws tens of thousands of people to the area and has had an estimated 13-million-dollar annual economic impact for the township.
The event was initially scheduled for April 25th, and when it was postponed, the hope was to hold it in the fall.
Township director Bruce Rieser said during last night's board meeting the race will be merged with another Ironman event later this year in Waco.
