Texas National Guard Disinfecting Nursing Homes

Almost 47% of Covid19 fatalities in Texas are residents of nursing homes or long term living facilities.

The Texas National Guard is being deployed to be disinfect the more than 3-thousand nursing homes across the state.

Governor Greg Abbott announced the deployment of Facilities Disinfection teams to go through the homes to stop the spread of the virus. Six teams hit the ground running and are already operational, each team supplied with PPE's, ionized sprayers and Vital Oxide disinfectant.

The Adjutant General Tracy Norris said in a statement, "“Our service members have proactively trained for this mission alongside the Health and Human Services Commission and other partner agencies.”
