Ft Bend Co Commissioners Court discussed removal of sheriff

The Fort Bend County Commissioners Court discussed in closed session removing Sheriff Troy Nehls from office under the "Resign to Run" provision--which state legislators approved years ago.

Republican Fort Bend County Sheriff Troy Nehls tweeted this was a 'witch-hunt' accusing Democrat County Judge KP George has met with other Democrats to choose who he would appoint to replace Nehls.

This summer, Nehls said he won't seek another term as he's formed an exploratory committee to seek the U.S. House seat in Texas District 22.

Once commissioners court came out of closed session, no action was taken against Nehls.

"It is also just an information item. There is no action on it," said George.

KTRH reached out to Judge George via e-mail and phone, but have yet to hear back.
