Bridge protesters in court on federal charges

Greenpeace activists who closed down the Houston Ship Channel and the Fred Hartman Bridge on Thursday protesting fossil fuels while Democratic presidential candidates debated in Houston go before a judge at noon today on federal charges.

The bridge dangling suspects and their accomplices have been charged with criminal trespass, obstructing a highway and criminal trespass. So far 25 people have been charged and an additional six people are being sought.

None of the protesters are from the Houston area.
