Texas School District Will Begin Drug Testing Students 12 Years And Up

The Bushland Independent School District from Amarillo, Texas will begin a new policy next month as kids return back to school. Any student participating in extracurricular activities will be required to take a drug test that will screen several different substances like alcohol, marijuana, heroin, and several others. If a student wants to be in band, play in the tennis team, or even an arts or theater club they will be required to pass a drug test.

The district claims that there is no drug crisis in the area, that this method of action is more so to be "proactive" and promote a drug and alcohol free community of schools. Students from grade 7 to 12 will be tested as an admission to the extracurricular activities and may be subject to a random drug test to ensure that they remain sober. Read more HERE
