The Coast Guard reports a body was found in Galveston Bay near the Texas City Dike at 7:54 this morning.
Official word from the Medical Examiners Office will confirm if it is the body of missing Kemah Police Chief Chris Reed.
A massive search has been underway in the Bay since Reed was reported missing by his wife Friday afternoon after he was thrown from their boat when they hit the wake of a large passing vessel. He wasn't wearing a safety vest.
A rally was held in League City Saturday attended by hundreds of well-wishers who heard a message read that was written by Reed's family thanking the public for their support.
