Woman shot by deputies after assault and chase in Fort Bend County

Life Flight has taken a woman to the hospital after she was involved in a pursuit and shooting overnight in Fort Bend County.

Sheriff’s deputies say they responded to a reported aggravated assault when they found the female suspect driving a dark color Chevrolet Camaro. In that assault, the woman allegedly hit another woman in the head with a hammer.

A high-speed chase then took place that started near Crab River Road and went into the Richmond area.

Deputies were able to use a spike strip on the car, but they say the suspect still didn't stop. She put the Camaro in reverse, going the wrong way on West Bellfort before crashing on a median. When she drove towards the deputy, the Sheriff's office says the deputy fired at her.

The woman, believed to be in her 30's, was taken to the hospital by helicopter. Her identity has not been released.
