Research: Journalism is less fact-based today

We’ve been saying it for years, and now there is an actual study to back it up.

The Rand Corporation did the research, and Bill Marcellino says this shift from being fact based to being opinionated has been going on for nearly 30 years.

“We found that the general intuition that news has become more subjective and less fact based over time is indeed accurate,” Marcellino said.

Nowhere is this more evident than in cable news. Dan Gainor with the Media Research Center tells KTRH you shouldn't expect the mainstream media to admit that bias actually exists.

“The first step is accepting you have a problem. Why won’t the media accept it and say that they are biased,” Gainor asked.

Rand's research involved fifteen mainstream media outlets including The New York Times, Washington Post, CNN, and MSNBC. They were also silent when Elizabeth Warren blasted Fox News on social media last week when she turned down a chance to do a Town Hall on the network.
