Dead Marine Life Washing Ashore in Galveston

Causality of increasing numbers of dead fish and turtles washing ashore on the beaches of Galveston is elusive.

Volunteers report an uptick in the number of dead sea creatures on area beaches, but crews with the Galveston County Board of Trustees say they haven’t noticed an increase.

According to the Galveston County Daily News, volunteers with the Turtle Island Restoration Network found 50 dead pelicans in a single day, and more than a hundred dead fish were found by one person between East Beach and 25th Street

The state has sent biologists to test the waters and try to determine if something is causing marine life to die in larger numbers than normal and why.
