Twenty-three percent of Americans say they haven't had sex in the past year.
The finding comes from the Washington Post's report on data from the General Social Survey. The 23-percent figure is the highest it has been in at least 20 years.
Young people are responsible for the high sexless rate. Nearly a quarter of respondents between 18 and 29 years of age said they haven't had sex in a year. That's a big increase from 2008, when about nine percent of them said they hadn't had sex.
More than 30 percent of Americans reported having sex about once a month, and a similar number said they have sex every week or more.
