It happens every year. Houston firefighters do their best to honor those that have lost their lives in the line of duty.
The ceremony this year happens later this afternoon at the Houston Firefighters Memorial Garden. Marty Lancton with the Houston Professional Firefighters Association tells KTRH it’s their way of keeping legacies alive.
“It is very emotional. It allows not only the families, the men and women of the Fire Department both active and retired to come and remember the sacrifice of all these brave men and women,” Lancton said.
The ceremony, which gets underway at 4pm, honors the 73 members who have died in the line of duty, and all members who are gone but not forgotten.
