Veteran HPD Officer Involved In Deadly Drug Raid Relieved Of Duty

According to KHOU 11 , a veteran HPD narcotics detective involved in last week's deadly drug raid has been temporarily relieved of duty while the department conducts a thorough investigation. Details are unclear, but "ongoing questions" about his role in the drug search warrant and resulting shootout prompted the internal affairs investigation. Five HPD officers were injured and two suspects were killed in the January 28th incident at a southeast Houston home.

A statement from Police Chief Art Acevedo makes clear the department's intention to conduct a full investigation before addressing any speculation about the officer involved shooting or the execution of the search warrant.
