The Mayor’s Houston tribute to George HW Bush was as characteristic as 41 himself… with moments of poignancy, warmth, humor and music…. The President’s favorites from his favorites, fellow Texans….the Houston Symphony, Yolanda Adams, La Mafia, Clay Walker and the Gatlin Brothers.
The speeches, prayers and video backdrops added to the portrait of a President who walked and played and toiled among us, as one of us, and that was all magnified in the audience affectionate participation and response. Houstonians gathered as one to remember 41 and to also highlight the spotlight he put on this city, taking us into world recognition. That light becoming points of light… because George H.W. Bush knew the Houston character of strength, resilience, and lending a hand and he made sure the country knew too.
We pointed our camera flashlights into the skies last night…our Houston point of remembrance.
