(Calexico, CA) -- The U.S. Customs and Border Protection is reassuring its protection from a migrant caravan heading towards the U.S.-Mexican border. Yet, new video shows them crossing - easily.
Chief Patrol Agent Gloria Chavez with the El Centro sector in Imperial County says they have a solid plan to secure the nation's border between ports of entry. The efforts are in response to hundreds of Central American migrants marching towards the U.S. in hopes of receiving asylum.
The caravan moved closer toward the Mexico-U.S. border Tuesday as the military stepped into help the border patrol reinforce fences and ports of entry. Some 400 migrants who broke away from the main caravan in Mexico City arrived in Tijuana Tuesday by bus, as larger groups are expected to arrive in the coming days.
