VIDEO: Police pour bleach on food for homeless

(Kansas City, MO)  --  The Kansas City Health Department is defending its actions after inspectors poured bleach on food intended to be given to homeless residents.  Director of Health Dr. Rex Archer says the group "Free Hot Soup Kansas City" was told in September that they needed a permit to serve the homeless.

The group says officers and health inspectors met with them on Sunday and demanded they destroy their food because of health code violations.

The department says the group never got a permit and that bleach was poured on the food because it was not being handled correctly and could put others at risk.
