(DeBary, FL) -- A teenager is accused of killing his mother in Volusia County. It happened last week in DeBary in a home on Alicante Road. Deputies say 15-year-old Gregory Ramos choked 46-year-old Gail Cleavenger this weekend during an argument over Ramos' grades.
Two of Ramos' friends were arrested for helping him bury his mom's body, and Ramos is being held in a juvenile detention center.

That's how Sheriff Mike Chitwood describes 46-year-old Gail Cleavenger, who was murdered last week in her home in DeBary. Her 15-year-old son, Gregory Ramos, is accused of choking her to death and trying to make it look like she was killed in a break-in. Chitwood calls Cleavenger's death heartbreaking, and he calls Ramos soulless and callous.
Teen Murder Suspect Had Interest In Law Enforcement
Ramos wanted to be a homicide detective but now he's a homicide suspect in Volusia County. DeBary 15-year-old Gregory Ramos is accused of killing his mother last week. Sheriff Mike Chitwood says Ramos studied criminal justice at Orange City's University High School and was a member of Orange City Police Explorers, which teaches young people about law enforcement. Ramos is now being held in a juvenile detention center, and prosecutors are considering charging him as an adult.
