That used car you’ve been thinking about getting might wind up being more of a headache than you were anticipating.
Chris Basso with Carfax says a lot of used cars that were damaged during Harvey last year are flooding the Houston market.
“They literally rot from the inside out. If any systems fail when the car is being driven you effectively have a ticking time bomb on your hands,” Basso explained.
There could be 130,000 of these cars in the Houston area right now, and nearly 500,000 across the country. How do you protect yourself?
“Take the car for a test drive, get a full history report, and have a mechanic inspect the car before you buy it,” Basso said.
