(Caracas, Venezuela) -- The president of Venezuela is accusing the Trump Administration of trying to assassinate him. Nicolas Maduro did not provide any evidence in a televised broadcast Thursday night but claimed the White House asked the government in neighboring Colombia to kill him.
A White House spokesperson said U.S. goals in Venezuela remain the same, for a peaceful return to democracy. President Trump has been highlighting the difficulties in Venezuela in his campaign speeches.
Nearly two million of its citizens have fled the oil-rich nation because of food and medicine shortages, hyperinflation and violent crimes. He told supporters that the U.S. assassins will not touch a single hair of his.
