Today is a Nationwide test of the Wireless Emergency Alert System. State officials say everyone should expect to receive an alert on their cell phone at 1:18p.m. Texas time this afternoon.
The WEA System is used to warn the public about dangerous weather conditions, missing children, or other emergencies. The national test uses a sound and vibration different from regular messages.
FEMA officials say this is the fourth nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System and first national test of the Wireless Emergency Alert system.
