I never really knew her name was Betty Joe. For 40 years I've always just known her as B-J. BJ Boothe. She was one of those women of Texas...the type you recognize on sight....forthright, smiling, filled with energy and interest, a woman of grit and gumption. And it was always on display in a big way in her lifetime membership and devotion to the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. BJ Boothe, SWEETHEART OF THE RODEO, was a leading lady of the International Committee and took all of us under her wing, encouraging our work as volunteers, goading us to do just a bit more, and rewarding us with good cheer, friendship, and a lot of "surprise" celebrations of life. She certainly lived it...filled with love for her husband David Boothe, children, grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren....and then there's all the rest of us.

Rest in peace, Betty Joe BJ Boothe.
