Hurricane Center eyeing tropical wave in Caribbean

The National Hurricane Center says it's watching a tropical wave in the Caribbean that forecaster believe has a greater chance of becoming a tropical depression. It's predicted to move into the Gulf of Mexico later this week.

The NHC says the disturbance, now located near western Cuba, is expected to move slowly across the northwestern Caribbean and the Yucatan peninsula over the next few days.

The chance of a tropical formation over the next five days has increased from 20 percent to 40 percent, according to the NHC.

Meanwhile, Hurricane Florence is a potentially catastrophic storm that could some ashore along the East Coast later this week. The NHC is also watching hurricanes Isaac and Helene off the coast of Africa.
