Football kicks off tonight; with a side dish of politics

We’ve been waiting for it all summer. The NFL season kicks off tonight with the Super Bowl Champion Philadelphia Eagles hosting Atlanta. But you will probably have to deal with something more than the game again as well.

And that ‘something’ would be politics. Despite fan backlash, Warner Todd Huston with Breitbart Sports told KTRH the NFL players will continue to protest things like the national anthem.

“Clearly from the pre-season there will be more protests. They have not arranged any suspension of this. They are coming,” Huston said.

Huston explains that the NFL seems afraid of the players and won't take strong action. He also says the league has taken a hit to their TV ratings because of it.

“Last year it dropped another 10%. It’s dropped upwards of 20% over the last few years,” Huston stated.

According to new polling 54 percent of voters disapproved of the anthem protests; 88% of Republicans are against it while 72% of Democrats have no issues with it at all.
