There’s a Tropical Storm in the Gulf of Mexico that could become a hurricane before making landfall. And along with that, some heavy rain made Labor Day on Galveston Island a big issue.
In fact, a Flash Flood Watch is still in effect for Galveston County until Noon today. The rain that hit yesterday causing flooding in different parts of the island, impacting what is usually a big day for tourists.
“A bunch of people loaded up their car and headed back that might have stayed for the day. It was not a normal Labor Day unfortunately,” one resident told our TV partner, Channel 2.
Other residents that were just trying to get around the island had their problems as well.
“We went in every direction, every side road,” another resident said.
Galveston County is under that Flash Flood watch until Noon. Chambers, Matagorda and Brazoria are included in that watch as well.
