An armed standoff stretched into the afternoon Thursday with a man who holed up in an east Harris County residence that serves as a youth care home.
He was eventually coaxed out without further incident. No one was hurt.
The man barricaded himself after eluding police in a traffic chase. He had an outstanding warrant, police said, and sped through a stoplight and various east Harris County roadways to elude capture.
Officers safely removed the children and others inside the home without any injuries.
Live footage from our news partner, KPRC-TV Channel 2, showed deputies are seen running from the home with children in their arms after they were retrieved through a window.
The home is in the 1400 block of Leadenhall Circle.
