Former Texan Kalu gives back with free football camp

N.D. Kalu

Former NFL player N.D. Kalu has been tied to the Houston community for decades. He played his college football at Rice. He ended his 12 year NFL career with the Texans. And today, for the ninth straight year, Kalu, who is also a host on our sister station Sports Talk 790, opens up a free football camp for kids at HBU.

“We don’t need the money. This has been a sport that has meant and done a lot for me. I just want to give back,” Kalu told KTRH.

Kalu says he has other former NFL players that are helping with the camp, and says one of the other reasons he has decided to do this is to teach kids the right way to play.

“I’m worried about the injuries we have heard about. There is a right way to play. I want the parents to know and see there are people out there that can show their kids the right way to play,” Kalu explained.

The camp unfortunately has no spots left, as it is already over capacity. It runs through tomorrow.
