Ted Cruz, Kimmel to Go One-on-One in Basketball

Late-night host Jimmy Kimmel is ready to go head-to-head with U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz in a charity game of basketball.

The Houston Republican had said on Twitter that Kimmel "talks a good game after besmirching my support for the Houston Rockets," and challenged him to take him on "man-to-man" on the court.

Cruz said the loser has to make a $5,000 donation to whatever non-political charity the winner chooses.

The two exchanged a few back and forth tweets --and then Kimmel officially accepted the challenge on "Jimmy Kimmel Live."

Kimmel did, however, question why Cruz would want to play against a talk show host when he "already lost an election to a reality show host" -- a crack at Cruz's failed effort to win the 2016 Republican presidential nomination.

He also suggested that the game take place the Monday before the midterm elections so Cruz "can lose twice in one week."
