Former U.S. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison of Texas is remembering former First Lady Barbara Bush.

Now NATO ambassador, Hutchison recalls asking Mrs. Bush if her husband was serious about jumping out of a plane on his 80th birthday.

“She was such a good sport, I mean, it was like, ‘well this is what he wants to do and he’s going to do it’,” said Bailey Hutchison.

She said Mrs. Bush didn't try to stop her husband, because she knew it would be futile.

She also remembers that Mrs. Bush was totally down to earth.

“She made everyone feel comfortable. And, everyone, no matter who they were, felt special when they were with her,” said Hutchison.

People can pay their respects to Mrs. Bush today as she lies in repose noon-midnight at St. Martin's Church in Houston.
