Escaped Oklahoma Convict Arrested In Houston After 36 Years

(Houston, TX)  --  A man who escaped from an Oklahoma prison more than 36 years ago is now in jail in Houston.  U.S. marshals arrested 58-year-old Stephen Michael Paris on Thursday morning at his workplace in southwest Houston.  

Paris was 22 when he escaped from prison in Oklahoma, where he was serving nine years on a drug-dealing charge.  

Investigators tracked Paris down after they noticed an obituary for his mother said she had a son named Stephen Michael Chavez, which was his alias.  Paris is awaiting extradition to Oklahoma.
