Furniture Can Be Donated Saturday for Storm Victims

The Houston Furniture Bank, in collaboration with local furniture retailers and community organizations, will host the citywide Houston Strong Furniture Drive at six area locations from 7:30 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2.

 Home furnishings will be donated to local families and people affected by Hurricane Harvey

People are being encouraged to donate "their gently used furniture items," including sofas, beds (mattresses and box springs), tables and chairs, and other home furnishings, at one of the Houston Strong Furniture Drive locations:

--Houston Furniture Bank, 8220 Mosley Road.

--Faithbridge Church, 18000 Stuebner Airline Road, Spring.

--Landmark Furniture. 20235 Katy Freeway, Katy.

--Landmark Furniture, 5900 North Freeway.

--Mattress Firm, 20814 Gulf Freeway #Q, Webster.

--Walnut Bend Community Center, 10601 Briar Forest Drive.

Donations are tax deductible, as are monetary donations made in support of the furniture drive at houstonfurniturebank.org/recovery.

“Houston Furniture Bank has provided essential furniture to nearly 1,500 Houston-area families as part of our Hurricane Harvey recovery efforts, giving out thousands of pieces of furniture to help families rebuild,” said Houston Furniture Bank Executive Director Oli Mohammed. 

All home furnishings in good condition are welcome, with the following priorities:

--Beds – mattresses/box springs.

--Dinettes for four to six people.

Donated items will not be accepted if they have severe damage or are flood items.

People can also donate or volunteer.
