Houston suburbs shut out in new ‘Top Places to Live’ rankings

A new list of the best places to live in America has been published. The list usually highlights some of the best suburbs in the country.

There’s a different look to the list this year. Houston suburbs like Katy were shut out. But four Dallas area suburbs wound up making the list.

Part of the requirements were that you had to have a population between 10,000 and 100,000 people. So places like the Woodlands just missed the cut. Nick Wolda, Director of Community Relations for the Woodlands, tells KTRH that's a shame.

“We are a premier community that is well designed. We have all the amenities in life; great schools, great parks. It’s a great place to live and a great place to visit,” Wolda said.

So do these rankings really matter?

“Rankings are always nice, but sometimes we get overlooked for whatever reason,” Wolda stated.

Spring made the list last year, but is not on it this year. We wanted to talk to other towns like Katy and Sugar Land about the snub. We also wanted to talk to 'Money Magazine,' the outlet that put the list together. None of them responded to our calls and emails.
