Study: 43 Percent of Americans are Sleep-Deprived

If you didn't get your rest last night, plenty of others are yawning with you.

A new study finds that 43 percent of Americans are sleep-deprived.

The National Safety Council report says that almost half of us fail to get at least seven hours of rest each night.

Lack of sleep means more than just being groggy. It limits your effectiveness at multiple levels -- from your job performance to you your workouts.

To get better rest, experts say to have set times for sleep, avoid bedtime distractions from TVs and devices  ... and get outside more, so the sunlight helps set your body clock.

The survey found that 47% admitted to nodding off at work. Even worse, 16% said they had at least one safety incident because they were tired.
