Houston Man Asking Why Police Shot His Two Puppies

Carnelius Allen owned the two Akita puppies, aged six and 14 months.  Police say the dogs charged at an officer who was investigating the robbery report in Allen's backyard.  Allen wasn't at home at the time.  He says he got a call and did tell police about the dogs.

When he and his five-year-old son returned home, they say police made no mention of the dogs.  His son spot them, bleeding, in the yard.  He says police didn't offer any help or any suggestions, so he took the pets to an emergency clinic for help.

Allen says the medical costs will be about $15,000, so the dogs have been surrendered to BARC Animal Shelter.  He is exploring his legal options with an attorney.
