Grand Jury Declines to Indict Two HPD Officers

A grand jury has refused to indict two Houston police officers in the death of Alva Braziel, a pedestrian who was fatally shot on Cullen Boulevard last year.

The decision was announced Thursday afternoon.

It's the second time a grand jury has declined to indict the officers.

The shooting was captured on the officers' body cameras and gas-station security video.

Officers said Braziel was in the middle of the road with a gun. Two officers in a vehicle and a civilian passerby told him to lower his weapon.

Police say Braziel raised his weapon instead, pointed it skyward and then pointed it toward them.

Both officers fired multiple shots. Braziel died in the street.
