Study: Millions of non-citizens voted in ’08, ‘12

A new study shows that maybe, just maybe, President Donald Trump was right when he complained that millions of votes were placed illegally in last year’s election.

A study performed by an independent think tank 'Just Facts' says as many as 5.7 million non-citizens voted in the 2008 election. The number in 2012 was between 1.2 million and 3.6 million. Catherine Engelbrecht with true the Vote tells KTRH this is not all that unexpected.

“It’s no great surprise to me. Our voter rolls are as porous as our borders,” she stated.

Engelbrecht wants to see just how many people voted illegally last year, too.

“We maintain that an exact match is what is necessary; that the technology and data exists to do it.

Which leads to the question of what is happening with Texas Voter ID here in Texas?

“The program in total sits before a judge who is asking for both parties to present arguments in mid-July,” Engelbrecht explained.

After the 2011 law was struck down by the courts, the Texas Legislature passed a new bill this year, but as Engelbrecht mentioned, we have to wait for the legal battle to sort the whole thing out.
