A lagging demand for sedans is the main reason new car sales were off 4% in April. KTRH Car Pro Jerry Reynolds softens the bad news by pointing out that sales are only off 2% -- and that's comparing this year to the best sales year in history, 2016.
“SUVs are holding their own from last year, pickups are up slightly, but sedans are way down,” Reynolds says. “There's just nothing moving there.”
Reynolds says the factories will likely have to slow down.
“I think the manufacturers are going to have to cut back on production,” he says, “let the dealers clear their lots some, then start building cars again.”
