Wesley Hunt Looks To Undo Gun Bill John Cornyn Helped Pass After Uvalde

Not only is Houston Congressman Wesley Hunt going after John Cornyn's Senate seat, he is also trying to undo some of the 'bipartisan' gun bill that Cornyn helped pass in 2022 after Uvalde.

"In the wake of Uvalde, people had a knee-jerk reaction" Hunt said, "John Cornyn's knee jerk reaction was to do what? Go after our guns. My knee-jerk reaction would be, it's not about the gun, it's about the homicidal maniac that uses the gun."

The Second Amendment Restoration Act is co-sponsored by Texas Republicans Troy Nehls, Chip Roy, and Brandon Gill.

"Nobody in this state wants to see children harmed" Hunt told KTRH, "The idea of trying to control the Second Amendment in Texas by implementing red flag laws is unacceptable."

The bill also has the backing of the National Rifle Association, Gun Owners of America, National Association of Gun Rights, Texas Gun Rights Association and the Texas State Rifle Association.

"I'm proposing legislation that's going to undo the attack on our Second Amendment that was started by John Cornyn" noted Hunt, "Our bill will repeal any federal incentives to states to implement any red flag laws."

With less than four months to go, Hunt and AG Ken Paxton are running against Cornyn in the March Republican primary.
