Texas Governor Greg Abbott says the state’s elite National Guard units are on the move, deploying at the federal government’s request to protect federal buildings.
In a post on X, Abbott declared, “The elite Texas National Guard. Ever ready. Deploying now,” signaling his full support for President Trump’s order to send 400 Texas troops to cities like Chicago and Portland. The move comes as protests targeting federal facilities continue to grow, prompting the White House to ramp up security coordination.
Not everyone is on board. Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker blasted the deployment as “an invasion,” while Oregon officials are seeking court orders to block it. Abbott fired back, saying state and federal leaders must "either protect federal employees or step aside and let the Texas Guard do it" praising the troops’ skill and discipline.
Despite legal battles in other states, Texas officials say they’re ready to move forward. Abbott’s brief but bold post has gone viral, earning praise from supporters who see him as taking action while others debate. His message, as always, was short and sharp: "Ever ready."
