Too much blue light exposure - like from your computer screen, your tv screen or your mobile phone --- will harm your eyes. It is linked to blurry vision, eyestrain, dry eye, macular degeneration, and cataracts and in some people - sleep issues.
Now new research is finding it worsens as we age. Jaga Giebultowicz, a researcher in the Oregon State University College of Science who studies biological clocks, notes people are exposed to increasing amounts of light in the blue spectrum because LEDs emit a high fraction of blue light. It has long been known that natural light is an important influence for a healthy circadian rhythm, which is important to our eating and sleeping patterns, and now we are subjected to more blue light more hours of the day.
Experts suggest we cut down on our screen time by taking regular breaks from these screens to rest our eyes --- especially at night. Get new computer glasses with special lenses that lower your exposure.
