Your Water Bill May Go Up

The City of Houston Public Works will need to spend about $2 billion in the next 15 years to upgrade the Houston water system. The city has committed to make the improvements as a part of an agreement with the EPA. How will they pay for the work?

Mayor Sylvester Turner agrees with the findings of Carollo Engineers, the firm that made a study last month of the needs, and recommends the city increases the water bills of Houston residents and businesses...so that The City can increase its water income by 39.5% and wastewater income 60% by 2026.

Houston City Council will need to approve the new rate structures proposed by the Turner Administration.
