Joe Walsh of the legendary rock band the Eagles will be the keynote speaker to kick off the "Houston Salutes American Heroes" Veterans Day celebration on Monday.
Walsh is a gold star family member and a longtime supporter of veterans. His father died in a plane crash over Okinawa during World War II when the musician was just 20 months old.
The event begins at 10 a-m outside city hall with a 21-gun salute, then a moment of silence and the 22nd annual Houston Veterans Day Parade starting at 11:30. Free parking is available in the theater district Tranquility garage.
