When it comes to driving drunk in Houston, there's been a sharp increase in DWI arrests year-to-date.
Houston Police are boasting arresting 1,500 more drunk drivers so far this year compared to the same time period last year.
"The city of Houston and Harris County are the worst city and the worst county in the worst state for DWI and the scourge of DWI," said Houston Police Chief Art Acevedo.
He said last year at this time, they arrested 2,218 offenders.
"The Houston Police Department, through June 30th, we have made 3,862 arrests for DWI," said Acevedo.
He said they'll keep on strongly enforcing arresting drunk drivers, which is a base cost of $17,000 to the offender.
He added they won't tolerate celebratory shooting guns in the air, as well as fireworks within city limits for the upcoming fourth of July holiday.
