For some this is a Dream Degree that leads to a Dream Job. It's a four year program in "Canine Training and Management."
The State University of New York at Cobleskill is launching the program because of the growing demand for specially trained dogs. These canines can detect threats and assist veterans make it in their new world. Serious dog training is nothing new. Many institutions train people to train dogs and give out certificates. At least one college actually gives out a Bachelor's Degree in Dog Handling. The training at Cobleskill is much more involved and demanding on students! Among other requisites and classes, each student must perform a 600 hour internship at a dog-themed business.
