Drivers are asked to be patient as crews continued to work Thursday to repair a panel on Wallisville Road approaching the Greens Bayou Bridge — both which are currently closed.
The goal is to have the road back open before the Friday morning commute.
Wallisville Road between Dattner Road and Normandy Street in Northeast Harris County is closed for repair because of buckling on the road.
Harris County Commissioner Precinct 2's senior director for infrastructure, Jeremy Phillips, said the road has been closed since 5 p.m. Wednesday.
"Our goal is to have the panel replacement complete and roadway opened back up by 5 a.m. (Friday). That includes the cure time for the concrete, that will rapidly set, so that we can get the traffic back on it sooner," said Phillips.
He said try to avoid traveling in that area.
However, they are letting people get schools and businesses there.
Phillips urges drivers to use Maxey Road, Normandy Street, or Uvalde Road as alternate routes.
"Right now the damage appears to be isolated just to that approach panel, which is on the roadway side. The bridge itself is in no danger of collapse and our engineering evaluation indicated no damage to the bridge at this time," Phillips said.
