The heart of Houston extends to an often overlooked group…our female military veterans trying to reenter the job market after service to this country. It’s for them that Houston’s “Dress for Success” holds a special day every November.
The veterans, many of them single moms, are treated to job ready clothing, seminars on pursuing positions and acing the interview. I’ve posted photos from this year’s event when even members of the Houston Symphony entertained to help these women with softer re-entry.
Dress for Success is a non-profit that depends on your donations of gently worn business clothing and accessories to help women into the job force. They are successfully doing that year round but, to me, this special focus on our female veterans will open not just hearts but closets of clothes where it’s richly deserved.
