Didn’t get any feeling of sustenance from the State of the Union, so I grilled a steak.

It was so fine, my old and largely -crippled golden retriever roused herself to the kitchen and assumed her lip-licking stance. Basic animal response to real sustenance.

Couldn’t help contrasting that to a story on Houston’s Morning News about scientists’ claims that they can take proteins and run them through a heating, cooling and pressure process and come up with food which basically mimics …..beef. Keywords there, basically and mimics.

Who wants that? Apparently, a growing market, according to "Beyond Meat." It’s a hi-tech company. Somehow I don’t think Texas cattlemen are quaking in their boots over this.

Thank goodness. The real beef would be when there is no more real beef.
