Terrafugia is showing off a concept of a flying car called the TF-X, which wouldn't be expected to be ready for deliveries for another decade. As seen in these artist renderings, it would take off like a helicopter and fly like a plane, but could driven on roads like a car as well.

Terrafugia's Transition flying car completed its successful test flight in upstate New York. The production prototype has landed in Manhattan and will be on display at the New York Auto Show.

The Terrafugia's propellers would point up for takeoff on the TF-X, allowing it to take off like a helicopter, as seen in this artists' conception. The engines would then rotate for level flight.

The Terrafugia TF-X would be driven like any car, even though it can take off like a helicopter and fly like a plane
