Police say a Dallas woman is in custody after she tried to drown her two young daughters after the girls pleaded for snacks.
Dallas Police Department records show 35-year-old Sonya Gardner is jailed on a $1 million bond on two counts of attempted capital murder of a child.
A police affidavit says neighbors in an apartment complex in the eastern Oak Cliff neighborhood south of downtown reported hearing screams coming from inside Gardner's apartment. They told officers of then seeing Gardner's 18-year-old son carry his 4-year-old sister out of the apartment, dart back toward the apartment and finding the front door closed and locked. They say he kicked down the door and enter yelling for his 6-year-old sister.
Police say the son may have saved his sisters' lives.
