This Independence Day will see Texans hitting the roads by the millions.

AAA Texas says almost three million Texans will travel over 50 miles for the Fourth of July.  Over 2.4 million people will travel by car, 257,000 by plane, and 210,000 by trains, buses, or cruise ships.

Doug Shupe with AAA Texas says the total number of people traveling this year will be down slightly because last year, since the holiday fell on a Wednesday, it added an extra day to the travel period.

The AAA Texas survey also found that almost third of people plan to travel on the day before the Fourth of July.
