Smoke-Free Housing in Houston

The Houston Housing Authority implements a new policy that bans smoking in public housing for both residents and visitors.

The new policy affects 25 units in Houston, impacting about 5,500 families.

The city released a statement saying it’s meant to protect non-smokers – especially children – from the effect of second-hand smoke. Those who live in or visit HHA properties will not be allowed to smoke inside, in common areas, or within 25 feet of main entryways.
