Want to know what your blood pressure is?  There’s an app for that.

You do have to buy a cuff to take the measurement on your iPhone.

The vice chairman of Family and Community Medicine at UT Health Science Center says there are all kinds of apps available now, monitoring your glucose, monitoring your blood pressure.

“It just makes sense,” says Dr. Grant Fowler, “to plug them (the apps) intoa  phone and be able to remotely monitor them, and monitor them from home.”

Dr. Fowler says this is not going to replace doctors.  “This allows (remote) eyes, ears and hands for the doctors, as opposed to replacing the doctors.”

It also makes the patient more responsible for their own health care.
